I'm Clement Fournier, a backend engineer living in San Francisco. By day I build software at Shepherd, where we use AI to underwrite commercial insurance for the people who build the physical world. By night I run a blog for the people who build the digital one.
Why this site exists
Honest answer: it started as an experiment. I wanted to know whether the latest AI models could take a website from zero to an actual audience. Not just the writing: the research, the sourcing, the SEO, the publishing machinery, all of it. The internet is already drowning in AI-generated filler, so the experiment came with a rule that makes it interesting: every claim needs a receipt, and nothing goes live without me reading it first.
That rule became the site's identity. Proof of Build covers AI tools and workflows for people who build things: Claude ecosystem news, agent workflows, and the gap between what vendors announce and what builders actually experience. Strong opinions, cited sources.
Outside of this
When I'm not at work I'm usually building something anyway: side projects, new dev tools, whatever model dropped that week. This site is the side project that decided to get serious.
